As an aside, one of the above videos provides further fodder, I am sure, for the contention that John F. Kennedy was a conservative, standing up to the Soviet Union and communism.  Quotes have also been cited that he sought to lower taxes to expand growth.  Here, for example

Two other famous personalities died on that day.
Here are a couple of links that speak about them as well. Of the three, C.S. Lewis had the most profound impact upon my life personally.  His influence remains to this day.

Getting back to the main focus of this day, what is probably missed as our remembrances typically are tied to dates is that the JFK assassination was one of a few awful assassinations that marked a turbulent time (some would also throw Malcom X's assassination into that grouping though he is a more controversial figure than JFK, RFK and MLK).
