Bethany Hamilton's "I Am Second" Spot
Note: I AM Second erred in crediting Bethany with winning the NSSA World Championship. She won the 2005 National Championship. No small feat for a young teen, esp. one with a missing arm after such a trauma.
Ukraine’s new National Guard trains on March 17. The nation is scrambling to mobilize 40,000 National Guard and reserve members to bolster a Defense Ministry with 180,000 personnel. Fears are high of a Russian invasion of Ukraine’s mainland, following its invasion and annexation of the Crimean peninsula.
As you can see from this image from the article "State of War," Russian military units surround Ukraine from the North, South and East.
The article states in part: Estimates of Russian troops on war footing vary, from the West’s estimates of more than 30,000 to the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council’s calculations of 100,000 soldiers ready to strike. There are, in addition, 700 tanks and armed personnel carriers staging near the eastern border, according to Dmitry Tymch…
Dr. Steven Collins set out to find the lost city of Sodom. He worked through and traced clues from the Bible, archaeology and geography as to the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah. Potential locations were whittled down in the process. The archaeological web page states, "The fact that Tall el-Hammam and other sites on the eastern half of the Jordan Disk are located precisely in the g…
The first thing I want to make clear is that I love Casting Crowns. I am a big fan and I love their
thought-provoking lyrics and found most of their songs easy to love, even from
the first hearing. However, Jesus, Friend of Sinners, I think,
crosses a line that their other songs haven’t and I would like to address those
concerns here. Almost certainly, I will
be in the minority but I must challenge you that our music must be in line with
our doctrine and in the words of one great Christian intellectual, I repeat,
“Let my people think.” Before I go into the negative, let me begin with what is right with the
song and why so many already enjoy and celebrate its message. First, the title; Jesus is indeed the friend
of sinners. A cursory look at the
Gospels will demonstrate this as Jesus spent time with the outcasts of his day:
tax collectors, prostitutes, those with incurable diseases, etc. One can even point to a hymn that also extols
our Lord for this quality, entitled Jesus, Wha…
